Quite by accident I stumbled upon your web page as I was researching
my Grandfathers uncle, Ferdinand Gregorovius. I thank you for the
information on D. F. Bigelow and Folger Bigelow. Aunt Caroline had
given one oil painting to me and I inherited three others when my aunt,
Dorothy Gregorovius died. I guess I should have begun by saying that
George Gregorovius was my mother's brother.
We have lost touch and assume that Caroline has passed away.
Is she buried with George in Plattsburgh?

I have tried for many years to find the answers to my many questions.
I have been trying for so long to find out
who my great grandfather was named after. His name was Eliphaz
Bigelow Johnston. He was born in Huntingdon Co., Pa. His father
was William Johnston, Mother Elisabeth Sarah Stelle. (I've only gotten
their names from my gr-grandfathers death cert.) Up until last night
I have had no luck looking up information on this portion of my family
tree but last night I made an error typing in the name on the familysearch.com
web site and putting in the first and middle name of my gr grandfather
in the first and last fields, which gave me the information on Dr. Eliphas
Bigelow.
I have been reading your "un official" Bigelow page (very impressive)
and I have also found two other sir names
that I also have in my family tree. (Steele, Wadsworth). I have
not yet found out what the link is and I was hoping you can tell me.
I have been up against this brick wall for over five frustrating years.
Unfortunately, there are no living Johnston's that are old enough to tell
me any information that will help. I have picked their brains until
they are mad at me.

Answer: Eliphaz Bigelow Johnston was probably delivered by Dr.
Eliphaz Bigelow, thus the name. There is also the possibility that Mrs.

connection.

Rod - Great job on the website, I've found it extremely useful!
Ashley Bigelow of Crown Point, NY was my great-grandfather, and I've
followed through your Howe book reprints as far as the page for his father,
Ransom, but none of the links on Ransom's page work. Also, I am being
guided in my genealogical research by my two 90-year old aunts, and they
have given me some information which I think will be in conflict with that
on the page for Ransom...I will follow-up after I've had a chance to
check vital statistics for those days. Seems that the family tradition
holds that brothers Ashley and Orville married sisters Lasira and Luancia
Ellithorpe, on the same day (12 Jan 1875). Nobody knows of any Louisa
T. Russell. Also, I have information coming on Ransom's third marriage.
He is buried in

be there next month.

as in charge of all manufacturing
in 1908. His obituary reads in part....."He was one of the founders

George L. Swift had a son named after Herbert Bigelow.
His name was Herbert Bigelow Swift. In turn Herbert B. Swift had a son
Herbert B. Swift Jr. Known as "Bud". Bud Swift passed away
June 10, 1999 at the age of 70.
All of his children have passed on, but he does have 3 grandchildren
still living, my Uncle Clarke Taube, who was born and raised in Mpls, MN.
He is 85 years of age and now resides in Tryon, North Carolina, (Clarke's
sister Janet was my mother, she passed on March 22,1 998.). Also
there is Peggy Swift Smith and Marlyn Swift Landgren. Peggy resides

grandmother. She married Ruben Willard and they moved to Dillon, Montana
in 1889. They homesteaded a ranch in the Big Hole Valley and raised 13
children. My grandmother, Lydia, married Lorain Spencer. Their daughter,
Hazel, is my mother. My father was Howard Lowman, another name from the
1600's. If you are interested in any of my list back from Jabez and Susanna,
(through the Elderkins and Drakes to England) I would be
happy to share it. With regards,

I have been on the Bigelow's Web page now
for hours trying to trace my ancestors. This was brought on by a partial
family history that I recently received on a vacation to Montana. My name
is Dixon James Bigelow,The following is a brief history that I was able
to obtain. Great Great Grandfather Bigelow Married a Stanford (cont::)

I am the grand nephew of Charles Chase Bigelow who
did original tracings of family back to Baguley Hall, which I visited some
years ago. Am trying to put together short version of family history for
my son and ran into that attached beautiful picture of Baguley Hall. Though
you might like a copy. Uncle Charlie was also an artist and did murals
in Buffalo newspaper building which are not on National registry
of Historical Landmarks. His Niece is now over 80 and living in Sierra
Madre, CA -- very interested in Bigelow stuff and a treasure trove of great
family memorabilia.

Hi, my name is Nora Bartlett and I hope you can help me with the name
Baguley. In 1826 my great grandfather was born and
later lived and worked a farm called Baguley Farm. His
name was William Marsland. I know this has nothing to do with the
Biglow family name but I saw a reference to the fact that Baguley Hall
is now called 'farm' and as it is the only building remaining just maybe
I can get my sister to go and visit (she still lives in England, I live
in Edmonton, Alberta Canada). I understand you have a publication
called "Forge Is this published in the States and how much would it cost
for vol.7 as this was mentioned as having a reference to Baguley.
I really was excited to read your family history as up until yesterday
I didn't know the correct spelling of Baguley or that there was so much
history to the place. Thanks for your help, Nora
