1592C.31 Mary Ann ⁷ BIGELOW, dau of Daniel ⁶ ( Amasa ⁵, Isaac ⁴, Isaac ³, Samuel ², John¹) and Emma (JOHNSTON) BIGELOW, was born at Horton, NS on 10 February 1805. On 20 January 1825 at Guysborough, NS she married Ward Atwater the son of William and Sarah (Andrews) Atwater, jr. Ward was born at Guysborough on 21 June 1798 and died at Farmington WI on 21 June 1873. She died at Sparta, Monroe, WI on 20 March 1897. Both are buried at Mindoro, WI. Mary Ann's husband, Ward Atwater, in 1840 was in Genesee Twp., Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin. In 1850 and in 1855 he is in Eagle, Waukesha Co. He purchased land on 15 Aug 1845 and on 05 Jan 1846 in town of Eagle (Twp. 5, Range 17, Sec. 9). In book "Memoirs of Wisconsin", Ward is listed as one of the pioneer settlers of Eagle, coming in 1843. He then sold land in 1856 and according to a daughter's obituary they moved to LaCross Co. Ward filed an intent to Naturalize in Milwaukee on 12 Apr 1843. This states he came in October 1839 from Nova Scotia and landed in the Port of Philadelphia. The ship's passenger list states the date as Oct. 08, 1839. Came from Pictou, Nova Scotia to Philadelphia on the WAVE, a brigateen On 13 Oct 1856 he purchased land in LaCrosse Co., Wisconsin. He is found in the 1870 census in Farmington, LaCrosse Co., Wisconsin with wife and son Milton. According to history of LaCrosse Co., Ward had at one time been a shipbuilder, miller and expert mechanic.
