m 1834 Julia Edwards was my ggg grandfather. He had a son who moved to

I didn't see reference to Bigelow Mountain Range/Bigelow Mountain in Maine. The range was named after Colonel Timothy Bigelow, who was Great grandson to John Bigelow and Mary Warren. Col. Bigelow was a scout for Benedict Arnold.

I was poking around the Web, checking up on a family history that my grandfather created in the 1930s, which traces our family back to John Biglo, America's first Bigelow, as you so well document in the Bigelow site.
My great great grandfather was Ephraim Hathaway Washburn (http://bigelow.simplenet.com/rod/sus76627.htm, who was the husband of Susan Wilkins Bigelow.
We have at home a portrait of Ephraim, painted in about 1832, when he was the editor of the Middlebury VT Gazette (according to family oral history).

dug around in it. I have a question: in the Baguley Family Page 5, there is a disclaimer that some of it is unresearched. I saw on the Baguley History page the line from John to the people at Ollerton Hall. Is this accurate, to the best of your knowledge? That chart that was drawn makes me think it's been researched. The Lucy Corona, daughter of Edward I, where did that info come from? I can't find her listed even in the info that mentions
illegitimate children. I tried the links on the Baguley History page but they didn't take me anywhere. Either the server was busy or they no longer

Hi my name is Vicky Clark. I'm very interested in finding any information about the Bigelows in Watertown, NY. My mother told me her mother and fathers names were Evelyn Beaumont( Bigelow) and her fathers name was Kenneth Edward Bigelow, but I cannot seem to find any info about the two. I just started doing research on them. They both died in Watertown NY. Kenneth E. Bigelow was buried in the military cemetery. He died in 1972 and was born July 27, 1911. He was involved in WW II and he had 22 brothers and sisters. One was named Tuttie and a brother Danny was also mentioned. Tutti had 17 children not sure about Danny and as for the rest of the clan is still to be discovered.

On browsing the net, I came across the Bigelow Family Tree and was most interested to discover that I have
relations all over the world that I have never even heard of, let alone met.   Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Leonette Hathorn (nee van der Walt). Born in Sydney, Australia on 26 July 1947 daughter of Violet Agnes Ruby Quinn and Rudolph Stephanus van der Walt...but I am leaping ahead!
I have managed to ascertain via numerous sources that I am a direct descendent of Amasa Bigelow born 11
February 1755 in Colchester, Connecticut. He being the son of Isacc Bigelow and Abigail Skinner and great great grandson of John Biglo. My great grandfather was James Amasa Bigelow born 19 April 1852 in Pugwash, Nova Scotia who married Agnes Elizabeth French in Auckland, New Zealand on 22 July 1875, my grandmother was Cora Malvena Bigelow one of nine children born to them.   Cora Malvena married John Quinn and this is where I come unstuck as unfortunately I do not have dates of marriage between my grandparents.   My mother Violet Agnes Ruby Quinn born 17 November 1908, is one of four children (and still alive).   I have some sketchy information on the Bigelow genealogy but there are so many - where does one start.   Thanks to the internet some of the pieces of puzzle have been found. I would appreciate information on the prospect of joining the Bigelow Society once my heritage is ascertained and look forward to hearing from you by return.

A friend of mine was given a picture it is a print from Brown & Bigelow from St Paul Minn. Printed in the USA. it is a 1929 print of a Parrot with a flower base with it. The print is called "Rememberance" then it also says Marion, Mfg.Co.

My gg-grandmother was Mary Louise Bigelow, born in Whitehall, Washington County, NY, in 1818, allegedly to Micah and Eleanor Bigelow. I have found no Micah or Michael that would fit in the Bigelow family genealogy. I have found both a Michael and a Thomas in the 1810 and 1820 census for Whitehall. I have also noted that Thomas Bigelow (1769-1843) of Whitehall married Mary Griffith whose father was Micah. According to the family genealogy, Thomas and Mary Griffith Bigelow had only one son, also
Thomas. My suspicion is that they had a second son, Micah, named for her father.
If anyone has any thoughts or additional information regarding this conjecture, I would love to hear from them.

I think you're right. I have my grandfather's birth certificate. It lists her place of birth as Webster, Ma. but that could be wrong. The
dates and places seem possible. I've also found out that my grandfather had a sister Mary (Angell) who died on Oct. 24,1922.

I noticed that you list William Bigelow Farmer, the son of William F. and Fannie (BIGELOW) FARMER, in your descendants report, but do not listed his brother Milton Horatio FARMER. The following information may be of interest to you.
Milton Horatio FARMER was born on 19 Oct. 1877 in Belleville, Jefferson Co., NY. He was buried in 1955 in Niles, MI, Silverbrook Cemetery, near his brother, William. His gravestone says: Milton H. Farmer 1877 - 1955. He died on 14 Oct 1955 in Baywood Park, San Luis Obispo Co., CA. Milton was 15 years old when his father died. He took his father's place and worked the farm for his mother with her help for a year when she traded the farm for a home in Elkhart, Ind. He was married to Myrtle ADAMS (daughter of John ADAMS and Josephine DELEON ) on 10 May 1903 in Riverside, IL. Milton spent much of his life doing FARMER family research, after finding the1890 BIGELOW Genealogy by G.B. Howe. He produced a history of the FARMER Family which was unpublished at the time of his death as the result of an automobile accident in 1955.

Thank you very much for posting Hopestill Bigelow's letter to his son on your web site.
My ancestor, Samuel Thomas, was probably quite familiar with your ancestors, Samuel Bigelow (born 4/2/1763 Tyringham, MA) and his wife Elizabeth Fuller, as well as her parents Aaron and Rebecca Fuller. According to a rather detailed revolutionary war pension file for Samuel Thomas, he was married to Phebe Halladay by Aaron Fuller on 6/9/1787 in Skenesborough (now Whitehall), NY. His brothers John and James Thomas were witnesses to his wedding. Their father died between 1771 and 1780, and their mother was "killed by Indians after the defeat of Burgoyne". According to a deposition by James Thomas (the youngest of the three), Aaron Fuller became his guardian after his mother died. There is also a deposition in the file by a Hannah Day (dated 1845) stating that Aaron Fuller was married to her father's sister. I suspect that she may have been related to the three Thomas brothers, but the file does not specifically state that.
I am trying to identify the parents of my Samuel Thomas. I know that he was born on 7/25/1762, and that several members of his family came to Skenesborough from Tyringham, MA. Samuel Thomas joined the revolutionary army at Great Barrington.
Have you been able to determine the full name of Aaron Fuller's wife? Since he became the guardian for James Thomas, I suspect that his wife may have been related to the Thomas brothers. I suppose that she may have been their aunt, or sister.
Any information that you could share with me regarding Aaron Fuller, and his family would be very helpful. I would also dearly love to find more information about Skenesborough. Can you help me?
With the information that I have, perhaps we can determine the identity of Aaron Fuller's wife.
Please let me know if you are willing to share information.

Does anyone have any information on the birth date and place, and the parents of John E. Bigelow who was the father of Lucinda Bigelow of Corinna, ME? Lucinda was b June 1, 1836.
Also looking for Lucinda's mother, Polly Bunker Bigelow. Her name was probably Mary and she may have been the daughter of Enoch Bunker. Lucinda was born June 1, 1836 in Corinna and married to Harrison Mower of Dexter on Dec. 7, 1859.

informed me that the Bigelow Family reunion was to be held in Springfield, Missouri in August. I've been tossing around a trip with my
husband to Branson and this could easily include the reunion. I did go to the Purdy family reunion last July in Quebec and was
overwhelmed with the number of cousins that I had no idea even existed. Jane Bigelow (Purdy) was my great grandmother. (I think). I
wanted to double check this, but I quickly packed stuff up for the first weekend in April (when all six of our children came home because
they missed seeing each other) and I can't find my book.
This is the first time I've logged on to the Bigelow family site and have just briefly scanned some of the articles available for viewing.

She was full-blooded Comanche. According to our records he was 60 when they were married and she was 14. Because of this age difference, I believe Great-Grandpa Cheney had a previous Family, maybe back in Spencer, or elsewhere. I have been working with Louisie PROUTY, my 4th cousin twice removed, in doing this work. I have had great success on this line. It all started with how a large clan of PROUTY's ended up in Atascosa County, Texas. I am blood-related to all those PROUTY's thanks to G-Grdpa Cheney and G-Grdma Juanita. Two girls one named Nina who never married and died in Pittsburgh in 1971 and the other Named Georgia who first married then divorced a Lewis Fisher. Georgia is the one I am trying to find. I started this about a month ago. I have validated my family locally back to 1838 using the 1880 US Census records for Indianapolis, IN. Marion County.
I am now looking towards OHIO and need some assistance. My Great grandfather John G. Bigelow born some were in OHIO circa 1840 Married to Ann?, or Anna ?, born in Kentucky. Had 10 children, which included my Grandfather, William H. DOB circa 1868, earliest DOB 1866 all born in Indiana based on 1880 Census records. I found John G's older brother in another ward Isaac K. Bigelow wife Agnes E. Burger, they had twin boys born in Indiana 1868. Isaac K. was born in Ohio, His father New York, His mother Ohio. I acquired the Agnes's maiden name from these records also, her brothers were living at the same address listing them as brother in-law.
My research has also found Isaac S. Bigelow a retired US Marshal. His family is also here. He originally came from Massachusetts. I have found him buried here with his wife Lucy A. Lucy originaly from Conneticut. one son, one daughter, and his sister, Harmsk DOB 1811, also was living with him. Issac died May 02, 1881. If you are interested I will exchange that information with you.

Thank you for your response to my message. As I said, I am the eldest granddaughter of Henry Bigelow, eldest son
of H.F Bigelow. In the things I was given after my grandfather passed away, was a hand written letter to "Lucy",
according to the letter she must have been his daughter, three years old in 1840 when the letter was written. It was
never sent, apparently, because it was in his things, but it's obvious that he wrote it so there must be some truth to
what he wrote. It is quite a long letter and was included in with hand written letters from Mary Lucy Staples, written
at a much later date. The contents of the letter bring forth a lot of questions; various family members have tried to
pinpoint where the trial mentioned in the letter was held, but I guess we don't know enough to look in the right
places. I would gladly send a copy of the letter.

Does anyone have information of Mary Brainerd Bigelow b.1796 who married Edmund Bailey in New London, Colchester, Conn on 4
Mar. 1817? By 1824, they were living in Bethlehem, N.Y. Their daughter Catherine Bailey married Henry More in the Bethlehem
Reformed Church in 1842. By 1855, Edmund/Mary Bigelow Bailey and Henry/Catherine Bailey More were living in Wisconsin. Henry
and Catherine are buried in the Bailey family plot in Racine, Wisconsin with Edmund and Mary. There also is an Ichabod L.S. Bailey

I was browsing through the Bigelow site (it's wonderful, thank you for all your work) and read about Poultney. I was interested because some years ago I found a Howe Bigelow book in an antique store and bought it. In it were many notes about the previous owner's (Ida Bigelow Merrell) lineage. She was somehow connected to Poultney and had a newspaper article from the Todelo Blade in 1926 about Poultney sueing H.G.Wells for $50,000 for calling him a bore.

I have a letter that Harry Foster Bigelow wrote to "a" Lucy, who was 3 yrs. old in 1840. It appears as though Lucy was a child of a previous marriage, and whose mother was referenced by Harry as being "wretched, murderer, deceitful, and a thief". Lucy appears to have been married to a soldier who lost his life in the Civil War and has written to her father offering to care for him in his later years. Our records indicate that Harry F. Bigelow was only married to a Mary Lucy Staples and were parents to 5 children (Henry, the oldest, being my Grandfather). This letter details an account of a court hearing, place unknown, and an event where Lucy is spirited away and hidden for a time from her Mother, eventually returned. The only towns that are mentioned in the letter are Biddleford, and Lake Superior region. I have the Forge bulletins in which Harry has written letters to Lucy and will dig those out for review. I am a descendant of Olive Stone Bigelow & Dewey Hubbell Robinson and quite familiar with your website for the past couple of years
(You may recall having received some comments from me last year re: annual pre-Civil War treks from Troy NY to Woodville MS by Olive and her sister, Lorraine Bigelow Squire and their children.) I have recently come across some interesting info that thus far has
proven difficult to pin down with any degree of certainty!
While reading about the history of the settlement of Jericho, Chenango County NY, I found a list of the Vermont Sufferers, who were
given land in Chenango (a wilderness in 1786) due to their loss of property in the "range wars" between NY and VT. Clearly listed
was the name JOTHAM BIGELOW! Well, there was ANOTHER Jotham Bigelow who came to St. Louis about 1850 from NY with his cousin, Peers Griffin (b. Ireland 1830), who had recently immigrated to US. They were architects/builders who lived in Webster Groves (where I have lived my whole life) and built many fine homes, many of which are still standing and in great condition. (I lived in one of them for 15 years). They were extremely successful and well-known, well-respected members of the community. (WG is 10 miles from the Mississippi River in Downtown St. Louis - settled before 1850 & grew rapidly after railroads went through, providing commuter service. There are three residential historic districts, encompassing about 500 houses.)
I can find just a few shreds about anyone named Jotham that could possibly be a match: perhaps he is Jotham Richardson Bigelow, b.
1811 in MA, s/o Josiah and Lucinda Bigelow? Or how about Jotham Bigelow b. 9/8/1820, s/o Jotham Bigelow and Lois Drury, and h/o
Julia Warden, whom he married 3/13/1851? At any rate, there seems to be no mention of this man on your website, and I wonder why

I was researching my geneology for this line at the LDS web stie. Martha Janes Bigelow (Asa6.Abel5...) Martha Jane is my maternal ggggrandmother. If you are interested I have Scans of two obituaries for her I'll email them to the Webmaster. Since you do not

Someone was doing some research on my Grandfather Leslie L. Bigelow and sent my mother Marian P. Bigelow (widow of Robert G.) information from your site on Timothy C. Bigelow. It showed who he married and the numerous children he had, though many passed away early.
I note that Timothy L. 8/27/1854 married Mary Helen ___ . I presume that means you are unsure of her maiden name.
Apparently is was also Bigelow(?) I don't know from what branch - hopefully distant! But apparently the sons of Timothy had great difficulty convincing people they did know their Mother's maiden name and it was Bigelow. You might want to check that out!
All of Leslie L. Bigelow's direct family have passed away
Leslie - Edmund and Robert G. as well as Elizabeth his wife
