James Clayton Bigelow
James Clayton Bigelow, 74, of 911 W. Kibby St., retired postal
clerk, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Rita's Hospital at 7
p.m. Sunday following a coronary attack.
A native of Van Wert, he was a postal clerk here until 1950 when
he retired after 39 years of service. He was married in Ada in
July, 1901. The widow, Rose V., survives.
Also surviving are two sons, the Rev. J. Vaughn Bigelow, and
Evangelical United Brethren Church pastor, Port Clinton, and Jack
C., 517 E. 3rd St., president of the Lima local, American
Federation of Musicians, and instructor in music at Wapakoneta;
two daughters, Mrs. D. William Kruse, Elida, and Mrs. Donald M.
Taylor, 122 1/2 W. Kibby St.; two brothers, Walter E., Niles,
Mich., and Ernest J., Dunkirk; two sisters, Mrs. Albert
Sindelbaugh, Akron; Mrs. Fred Schockey, 210 1/2 E. Market St.; 10
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The body will remain in the Chiles & Son Funeral Home until
services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the First Nazarene Church. The
Rev. M. E. Clay will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn
Cemetery, Ada.

Rose Viola Bigelow
Mrs. Rose Viola Bigelow, 83, of 911 W. Kibby, died at 4:45 p.m.
Wednesday in Springview Manor Nursing Home following an extended
illness.
Born Jan. 7, 1883, she was a daughter of Davis J. and Sarah L.
Brannon Houser. She was married to James Clayton Bigelow, who died
in 1955.
Mrs. Bigelow was a member of the First Church of Nazarene.
Survivors include two sons, James Vaughn of Lucky and Jack Clayton
of 1161 Catalpa; two daughters, Mrs. William (Olive) Kruse of 846
Eastown Rd., and Mrs. Donald (Mildred) Tayor of 122 1/2 W. Kibby;
a brother, William A. Houser of 78 Waldo Alley; six sisters, Mrs.
Clarence (Nora) Wolfley of Ada, Mrs. Charles (Mae) Fisher of Ada,
Mrs. Lester (Ollie) Baird of Cleveland, Mrs. Harry (Daisy) Meyer
of Willoughby, Mrs. Harvey (Hattie) Clum of Emmettsburg, Iowa, and
Mrs. Gordon (Fairie) Kuhn of Algonna, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, and
12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Chiles and Sons - Laman
Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Lauman officiating. Burial will be
in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call after 7 tonight at the funeral home.
