Jabez Gardner 7 BIGELOW


16B26.12      Jabez Gardner 7 BIGELOW, son of Job Gardner 6 ( Jabez 5 , Jabez 4 , Gershom 3, Joshua2, John1) and Thankful (ENOS) BIGELOW, was  born at New Lebanon, Columbia, NY on 07 March 1822. On 06 November 1855 he married Sarah Hull at Sandusky, Erie, OH. Sarah was born 28 December 1831 in Perkins township, Erie, OH the daughter of John L. and Angaline (Walker) Hull. Jabez was early a teacher and then a lawyer in Sandusky. Sarah died at Sandusky on 29 March 1900 and he there in 1895?. (both died after 1900; see below)

16B26.121     Clara, b 1866; d ___ ; m abt 1897 Oliver P. Wharton. (Clara and Oliver, both married twice)( see below)

16B26.122     Gardner Jabez, b _ 1872: d __ ; m 27 Sept 1897 Henrietta M. Weis; he was a physician.(see note)

16B26.123     John W., b _ 1874 (?); d __ ; m 19 Dec 1892 Ida Jennings.

    This is a great site! I was doing an update to the copy of my family tree, which was done originally by Melville Bigelow.On your site I found my Great Great Grandfather, Job Gardner 6 Bigelow, father of Jabez Gardner 7 Bigelow. His son, Dr. Gardner J. 8 Bigelow, was my Grandfather. If you would like more information on this branch, I would be glad to supply it.
By the way, Gardner is my middle name, which comes from the Bigelow side.

In reference to Jabez Gardner Bigelow, the death year should be some time 
after the 1900 census as Jabez and wife Sarah are found living with 
daughter Clara and her husband Oliver P. Wharton.

Oliver P Wharton was born in May 1830 in Ohio.  The 1900 census also has 
them being married for only three years (abt 1897). This would suggest a 
previous marriage and different mother to son Donald.

Shows both Oliver and Clara to have been married twice and Clara have 
three children born to her of which two are still living.
