NOTE: e-mail to Jon Holcombe Dec 29, 2004
Have spent much time with the census over the break. Am now certain that
Margaret Marsden fits as a daughter of William.
By cross reference to all sources available, I see William's family as follows:
George b1802
Laura b1804
Philinda b1808
Sarah b1809
Margaret b1810
Soloman b1812
Charles b1813
Rhoda b1815
William b1817
Most of these DOBs are based on census reports and thus may have some discrepancies.
In 1810, William had 5 children - all under 10. There were 4 girls and a
single boy.
In 1820 William had 9 children - 3 boys and a girl under 10, a boy 16-26,
3 girls 10-16, and a girl 16-26.
There needs to be one more girl over and above the children named in George
Marsden's petition to match the census (especially 1820).
I believe it to be a safe assumption that, by the time of William's death,
Margaret was indeed dead and was thus not
considered a part of 'all the heirs and next of kin of the said deceased'.
I am now ready to embrace both William and the Waring ancestors.
I appreciate all of your help. What happened to Marlin and Margaret Willard
remains a mystery - one I will continue to "worry" until I find solution.

her late husband and they came to reside in Canada about fifty years ago,
making their home in Canifton. Mr. Farnham kept the
