# 1216. Jonathan 4, son of Jonathan 3 ( Jonathan 2, John 1) BIGELOW and Mabel (EDWARDS) BIGELOW, was born in Hartford, and baptised 27 June 1714 at First Church, Hartford, Hartford co, CT. He married ca 1735 Tabitha COLEMAN (see below), daughter of John and Hannah (WRIGHT) COLEMAN. According to inscriptions on their headstones, Jonathan died 25 January 1779; Tabitha on 17 September 1785, age 70 years; this is the old cemetery at Hartford. However, town records show his death as 25 January 1779, age 65 years. A private family record gives 23 January 1779. He drew up his will on 05 June 1778; it was proved 17 March 1779; it mentions wife Tabitha, son Jonathan, and six daughters not named. Widow Tabitha and son Jonathan were appointed executors, but on the death of Tabitha, Jonathan was appointed administrator of her estate 12 October 1785.(More)

Jonathan Bigelow of Hartford, son of Jonathan and Mabel (Edwards)
Bigelow, was born in Hartford, and was bapt. at the First Church,
June 27, 1714. He married Tabitha [Coleman], but we find no date
of marriage. He died in Hartford (as per inscription on gravestone
in the old cemetery at Hartford), Jan. 25, 1779, in the 59th year
of his age, but we find on the records of the First Church at
Hartford that Jonathan Bigelow died Jan. 25, 1779, aged 65 years.
A private family record says that Jonathan died Jan. 23, 1779. His
widow Tabitha died in Hartford, Sept. 17, 1785, aged 70 years. His
will, dated June 5, 1778, and proved March 17, 1779, mentions wife
Tabitha, son Jonathan, and mentions six daughters, without giving
their names. His widow Tabitha and son Jonathan were appointed
executors. On the death of Mrs. Tabitha Bigelow, Jonathan was
appointed administrator of her estate Oct. 12, 1785. Owing to the
meagre records of those days we are unable to give a full record
of his family, but we give the following:
1. Jonathan (as mentioned in will). He is supposed to have m. and
to have had a family. We find by the records of the First Church
that Jonathan Bigelow's wife d. March 6, 1795, aged 37 years, and
that a child of Jonathan Bigelow d. Sept. 26, 1793; but we have no
further record of his family.
2. Thomas; d. (as per inscription on gravestone) Oct. 5, 1767, in
his 31st year.
3. A Child; d. (as per Church Records) Sept. 19, 1755.
Six daughters, mentioned in father's will.
* Hannah, b. Aug. 14, 1738; m. 1757 or 1759, John Barnard, Jr.
* Eunice b. 1743-44 m. Daniel Olcott.
* Martha b. May 3, 1752; m (1) Sep. 14, 1775 Frederick Stanley;
(2) Jan. 11, 1802 John Barnard, widow of her sister Hannah.
