I am  looking for information on John Porter Bigelow.  He is my great grandfather.  He was born April 25, 1826 in New York.  He was Married to Sophia Van Buren.They had 2 sons Fred A. and LeRoy.  LeRoy is  my grandfather.  They came from New York to  Strawberry Pt. Iowa, then went to Missouri, then back to Walnut Iowa.  They were one of the first settlers of
Walnut .  I know nothing  else about John except that he died August 30, 1901 in Manilla Iowa.  I would appreciate any information and would share the rest of the family info with anyone.

The things that I have different is that John is buried in Walnut, Iowa and so is Sophia.  I have a picture of the stone.  Also Sophia died in 1902.  That is on the stone.  This is the information I have:

Fred Ardell ⁹, b 09 Sep 1861 Strawberry Point Clayton Co. Iowa; d 23 Sep 1928.  Buried at Walnut.  He was a Flour Miller.  He m Anna Thompson (b 1863; d 1949).  Both are buried in Walnut.  Do not know anymore about Fred.

LeRoy ⁹, b 20 Oct 1870 in Missouri; d 09 Oct 1913 at Walnut.  He also is buried there.  He married Anna Maude Bruce 12 June 1895 at Walnut.  (Anna was b 22 Feb 1872 at Monroe, Jasper Co. Iowa; d 26 Nov 1942 at Walnut and is buried there).  They had 6 children. LeRoy was a Pharmacist in Walnut. He  had a German Band that he played trumpet in.

1. Marjori ¹⁰, b 10 Jan 1899 at Walnut; d 20 May 1952 at Walnut and is buried there.  She m Lloyd Williams.  They had no children. Marjori was the City Clerk at Walnut.

2. Virginia ¹⁰, b ___ ; d___ ; m Ralph Gumbert they had one son Robert Gumbert. Virginia and Eloise lived in Des Moines, Iowa so I didn't have contact with them.

3. Bruce Bigelow ¹⁰, b 17 Nov 1900 Walnut; d 27 Nov 1945 at Denver CO, he is buried there also; m Mildred Ann Davis they had no children. Bruce was a banker in Denver, CO.

4. Joe Bigelow ¹⁰, b 12 April 1905 Walnut; d 05 Dec 1965 Walnut; m Lorene Jacobsen. They had one daughter Carol Ann.
Joe was a truck driver for the mill in Walnut.

5. Eloise ¹⁰, b 07 Aug 1908 Walnut; d 25 Mar 1989 Des Moines, Iowa; She is buried at Walnut with her parents and my Dad (Robert).  She married Wayne Dawson.  The had two children Richard and Cynthia.  She was also a nurse in the Navy in WWII.

6. Robert Otto ¹⁰, b 20 Dec 1910 Walnut; d 19 Aug1967 at Marshalltown, Iowa;  He m Helen Marie Stinn 12 Dec 1940.  They were divorced in 1955.  They had 6 children. My Dad was a chef and a bookkeeper. My Dad also played in a German Band.

1. Nancy Kathryn ¹¹, b 22 July 1943 at Atlantic, IA; m James Barnett 06 Mar 1963 divorced in 1969.

2. Robert Bruce ¹¹,  b Jan 1945; d 1945.

3. Robert Leroy ¹¹, b 25 Apr 1947.  Never married he lives with me. He was born at Council Bluffs, IA.

4. Larry Allan ¹¹, b 28  April 1948; d 1948.

5. Gloria Jean ¹¹, b 28 Jun 1949; d 1949.

6. Darrell Lee ¹¹, b 06 May 1950.  He is married to Sherie Raider, They live in Skiatook, Oklahoma.
