# 1534. Jedediah 4, son of Samuel 3 ( Samuel
2, John 1) BIGELOW
and Ruth (WARREN) BIGELOW, was born Marlborough, Middlesex co, MA,
08 February 1714. He married (1) 27 January 1737 Thamezine NURSE of Framingham,
MA, daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (HAVENS) NURSE (This is incorrect
-see below). She was born 07 June 1718 (correct date) (see below)(another source gives 01 June 1718).
They moved to Grafton, where three children were recorded, then to Sutton,
and later to Douglas, MA, where he lived the remainder of his life. Thamezine
died 12 March 1758. Jedediah married (2) 26 June 1759 Jane WHEELER of Sutton.
Jedediah served the town of Douglas as selectman 1771-1772. His will, on
which Howe records no date, mentions wife Jane, son Thomas, and daughters
Ruth, wife of Andrew COOK, Sarah, wife of Eleazer GOULD, Thamezine, wife
of William DAVENPORT, Thankful, wife of Jonah TITUS, and Mary, wife of Joseph
TITUS.

marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775, to Roxbury; service, 8 days.

Heights, dated Nov. 28, 1776.

Descendant note:
While roaming through the Bigelow Society information yesterday, I found
Thankful Bigelow (15345) who m. 1st Ephraim Parker, and 2nd Jonah Titus.
I descend from their daughter, Phebe Titus (15345.5) who m. Calvin White.
I noted that the information about Thankful's mother, Thamezine Nurse,
is incorrect. The Thamezine Nurse, b. 07 June 1718, who m. Jedediah
Bigelow (1534) was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Gale) Nurse.
This Nurse line is Thamezine (4), John (3), John (2), Francis (1).
Thamezine Nurse, the daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Havens) Nurse,
was b.1 June 1718. This Thamezine m. Abner Bixby 5 Feb 1734 at Hopkinton.
This Nurse line is Thamezine (4), Benjamin (3), Benjamin (2), Francis (1).

Hi Rod,
A few years ago you added a note from me on Jedediah Bigelow (1534).
I have received several emails about the two Thamezine Nurses as a result
of your note so your efforts are working. I would like to add the
citations for correctly placing the two Thamezines. I made a typo
in the birth of Thamezine, dau of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Haven) Nurse.
It should be 7 Jun 1718. I also incorrectly put the place of marriage
of Abner Bixby and Thamezine Nurse. It was at Hopkinton, not Framingham.
Perhaps it would be better to just replace the first note with the below
information.
Abner Bixby m. 5 Feb 1734 (Hopkinton VR p 226) Thamezine Nurse, b.
7 Jun 1718 (Framingham VR p 151), dau of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Haven)
Nurse, Jr. The first source is History of Framingham, Massachusetts,
early known as Danforth's Farm, 1640-1880, Josiah Howard Temple, 1887, pp
477, 653. He correctly places the Tamezines' marriages. Abner
Bixby in 1762 came to live with his father-in-law who deeded to him "for
love" his farm. Abner later bought the Benjamin Nurse, Sr place.
Abner sold his land to Richard Fiske 8 Dec 1773 when he removed to Partridgefield
(now Peru), Berkshire, MA, where he d. 29 Apr 1801, Peru VR, p 101.
This Nurse line is Thamezine 4, Benjamin 3, Benjamin 2, Francis 1.
Jedediah Bigelow m. 27 Jan 1736/7 (Framingham VR p 346) Thamezine Nurse,
b. 20 Aug 1716 (Framingham VR p 153), dau of John and Elizabeth (Gale) Nurse.
The second source is Nurse, of Salem, Massachusetts and Maine Families,
Vol III, p 71. John Nurse made his will 14 Oct 1729 at Framingham
and it was proven 15 Jun 1727. "His son John was to pay to the testator's
daughters Sarah, Elizabeth, Mehetabel and Thomezin Nurse L40 apiece.
...On Jun 10, 1747, John Nurse, executor, was given a receipt by William
Weston of Hopkinton for his wife Sarah, Thomas Bigelow of Marlborough for
his wife Elizabeth, John Belknap of Westborough for his daughter, Mehetabel,
only surviving child of his late wife Mehetabel, and Jedediah Biglow of Douglas
for his wife, Thamesin." (Middlesex Probate, 16102). This Nurse line
is Thamezine 4, John 3, John 2, Francis 1.
Thomas Bigelow referred to in the above article is Thomas #1551, son of
Thomas and Mary (Livermore) Bigelow, who was b. Marlborough, MA 26 Apr 1706
(Marlborough VR p 30).
ERROR: A History of Framingham, Massachusetts, including the plantation,
from 1640 to the present time, William Barry, 1847, p 345, incorrectly places
the spouses of both Thamezine Nurses.
