I have visited your excellent web page of the Bigelows and read with
special interest about Hiram Bigelow #15336.51. The mention of his
second wife, Mary Smith connects to some of my family information.
The Smith family is a bit complex since Johnson and James Smith were brothers
who married two sisters, Martha and Elizabeth Mills. Each couple had
large families and inevitably some repeating names. Mary Smith the
dau of James and Elizabeth only had one marriage to the best of my knowledge.
You have all other information about her the same as I understand it.
However, I feel a different Mary Smith was the wife of Samuel Smith.
They married in 1813 but Samuel didn't die until 11 Dec 1827 [according
to descendants' Bible record] and he was buried in Chatham on 13 Dec [according
to Chatham church record]. Also, Mary Smith is still listed as widow
in the 1871 Chatham census. She died 20 May 1873 in Chatham.
I suspect she is the dau of Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Parcher, or
of Johnson Smith and Martha Mills. I would greatly appreciate knowing
any other information you have
found on the Smiths. There are a lot of inter-relationships!
Years ago I corresponded with Pat Bigelow of the Bigelow Society when she
lived in Alaska. I see you reside in Massena so we are almost neighbors
since I'm near Plattsburgh. Looking forward to your thoughts on this.

Both Smith and Parcher families mentioned on the back:
This could be Gladys Smith, who m McGinnis, as she lived at Barrie,
Ont.
Her mother was Melinda Parcher. Gladys would be Geraldine's sister.
