I'm looking for information and ancestors for Stephan Bigelow b 12/8/1805,
married Amelia Smith b.1809. They had a son
Ashley Smith Bigelow b.12/27/1831 in Richford, VT who married Carolyn
Augusia Lufkin on 7/24/1852 in Lynn, MA. She
was born 3/17/1836 in Lynn, MA, d.1/10/1899 in N. Columbia, Nevada
co. CA. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Note1:
Clipping about Frank Bigelow, candidate for co. Bd. of Supervisors,
District 1, Fresno,CA paper "The Fresno Bee". The article states:
District 1 population is centered in the commercial & res. area w.of
Hwy.41 known as Madera Ranchos, where many of the residents commute daily
to jobs across the San Joaquin River in Fresno. Valley Children's
Hospital, Freeway 41, the planned city of Rio Mesa, the State Center Community
College District's new Madera campus and residential tracts proposed by
some of the biggest developers in the business--incl. Bakersfield-based
Castle & Cooke....etc.
Could he be a descendant of this Bigelow who was married in North Columbia
CA 31 Jan 1887?

Looking for any information about D.C. Bigalow and Hattie Bigalow,
known to
be in Los Angeles around 1906. They are listed in a Lane
County, Oregon
court document as the next of kin of Glenwood Cecil Bigalow, minor
son of
the late Clair (sometimes spelled Clare) F. Bigalow (sometimes spelled
Bigelow). The exact nature of the relationship is unspecified
-- could be
Glenwood's grandparents, uncle and aunt, cousins. They may have
spent some
time in Oregon, as Clair had owned a property in Eugene which was being
sold
on Glenwood's behalf by his mother Amanda (nee Fisher) in 1906.
Clair probably died some time between 1895, when Glenwood was born in
Los
Angeles, and 1899, as his wife appears in Oregon in the 1900 census
as Mrs.
Strong, married 2 years, with an infant daughter, Gladys L. Strong
in
addition to Glenwood. By the time the property in Eugene was
being sold,
she was married to Thomas A. Evans. No idea what became of Mr.
Strong.
Mr. and Mrs. Evans along with Glenwood Bigalow and Gladys Strong (who
appears to have taken the name Evans) moved north to Alberta in about
1914.
Prior to that, they spent some time in Mold, Douglas Co., Washington,
where
they were residing in 1905 when the estate of Amanda's mother was probated.
Glenwood's birth registration indicates that both Clair and Amanda were
originally from Iowa, so it is likely that D.C. and Hattie also have
a
connection to that state. I have found a listing of a marriage
between a
Hattie Finch and Doctor [don't know if that's a professional title
or an odd
given name] Bigalow in Worth County Iowa in 1965. If these are
the same
people as the pair in Los Angeles in 1906, they would be the right
age to be
Clair's parents. "The History of Mitchell and Worth Counties",
quoted at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaworth/worthist.htm#agriculture lists a D.C.
Bigalow as present at a meeting in January 1879 to discuss the formation
of
an agricultural society in Worth County.
Clair/Clare F. Bigalow, my great-grandfather, has been my Bigelow brick
wall
until I discovered D.C. and Hattie. Any information that anyone
has about
any of the individuals mentioned above would be greatly appreciated.
